Since Victoria became the first Australian state to pass legislation allowing Voluntary Assisted Dying (VAD) on 29 November 2017, a number of other States have or are in the process of introducing VAD legislation.   As authorised and independent witnesses in your State, it may occur that you will from time to time be requested to witness the execution of the forms required by the relevant VAD legislation.   The legislation / regulations / process does not mandate the type of witness required; however, the public often rely on those they trust for these sorts of things. This module has been developed to assisted those who may be asked to be an independent witness on what is expected of them as part of the process. A video going through each of the forms of the VAD process has been created specifically for Honorary Justices.
